Camargue teams up with BURA and ODPM on community engagement roadshow
April 2005
Camargue Director, Mike Conway, will be speaking at a series of four events, held between February and March, on the subject of Statements of Community Involvement (SCI). The events will see Mike speaking alongside a distinguished panel including representatives from the ODPM and Planning Inspectorate.
SCIs sit at the heart of the Government’s strategy, as set out in PPS1: Creating Sustainable Communities, to involve communities in the planning process. Every Local Planning Authority (LPA) must prepare a SCI as part of its Local Development Framework (LDF). The SCI will represent a commitment from each LPA and set out its policy on involving the community in preparing and revising Local Development Documents (LDD) and for consulting on planning applications.
Camargue`s extensive work within the planning sector has seen involvement at both a strategic communications level and also fulfilling a hands-on community engagement role. Working closely with Government and leading developers, one of Camargue`s current projects is the Telford Millennium Community - one of seven such pioneering communities nationwide that seek to demonstrate the benefits of environmentally responsible developments.
The events take place on Monday 28 February (London), Wednesday 2 March (Leeds), Tuesday 8 March (Warrington) and Thursday 10 March (Birmingham). For more information, and to book a place, please log on to www.bura.org.uk
