Success in China sees Aedas named as world’s biggest architecture practice

Aedas has toppled Aecom off the top spot as the world’s biggest architecture practice, according to the World Architecture 100 survey published by Building Design on Friday.

The survey, which was conducted by Camargue on behalf of Building Design, assesses architectural practices against a series of criteria including company size, number of employees, income and profit, as well as gathering intelligence on the health of the global construction economy.

Camargue sourced and analysed responses from 1400 practices worldwide. Data revealed that global earnings by the UK’s biggest practices have increased by a quarter in the last year, up £580 million collectively on last year.

The most successful British practice in terms of billings was Foster & Partners with a net fee income of around £200 million — twice that of its nearest UK competitor RMJM.
